Students who have been looking for affordable higher education in Hazleton and the surrounding areas but can’t drive the distance to our main campus in Scranton can attend the Lackawanna College Hazleton Center.

Our Hazleton Center offers five online-exclusive bachelor’s programs, eight associate degrees, certified clinical medical assistant., various certificate programs, and a police academy. Students also have the option of beginning several degrees in Hazleton and completing their requirements at our Scranton campus or online.

The Lackawanna College Hazleton Center provides a premium higher education for residents of the Greater Hazleton area, including portions of Luzerne, Carbon, Schuylkill, and Columbia counties.

Below, you will find the degree program options available to you at our Hazleton Center.


Students can also begin several degree programs in Hazleton and complete their requirements in Scranton. Those majors include:


The Hazleton Center offers a multi-skilled medical assistant certification that covers healthcare training as well as administrative and clinical skills.  Medical assistants are in high demand locally.  Medical assistant is a great step towards a rewarding career in healthcare.  With experience or additional education, medical assistants can move into leadership roles or advance into occupations such as registered nurse, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. 


The Hazleton Center is also home to the second location of the Lackawanna College Police Academy. Our primary academy training facility is at the Scranton campus. Lackawanna College is the only private college in Northeastern Pennsylvania where students can receive municipal police officer training.


We know students have many choices before them as they search for the right college in Hazleton.

The Lackawanna College Hazleton Center provides access to a wealth of opportunities to meet the needs of the students and the surrounding community. Students are empowered to learn and succeed in a tight-knit college community with comprehensive academic support.

The Hazleton Center is located downtown in the historical Traders Bank Building. Students have access to dedicated classroom space for healthcare career training, a state-of-the-art police academy training facility, and eight classrooms. Students also have access to a two-story, glass-paneled concept classroom and a fully equipped computer lab.

College prep courses, ESL classes, and certificate programs offered at the Hazleton Center are flexible, allowing students to learn both online and in the classroom.

The Hazleton Center serves the community through partnerships with many of Hazleton’s local Latino organizations.

The Center provides English as a Second Language (ESL) classes every year through a grant from Dollar General, has ESL-Certificate programs that match the needs of the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress and Society of Hispanic Professional workforce plan, and hosts events for the Casa Dominican and Mexican Consulate.

Hazleton Center attendees can be employed as work-study students for the Hazleton Integration Project, which directly impacts the community and Hispanic youth.
