Environmental Education Center

Covington Township

Dedicated in memory of Nancy Coccodrilli Angeli, the late wife of President Emeritus Raymond S. Angeli, the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center rests on 211-acres of property in Covington Township and is Gold LEED-certified. The building provides a venue with seating for up to 100 people, and hosts progressive programs for the public, the College, and K-12 educators and students.

The Environmental Education Center hosts a number of unique public programs including its multi-level Beekeeping Certificate Program. It also partners with the College’s Police Academy to offer a Conservation and Natural Resource Officer Certification and prepares business professionals on how to incorporate sustainability into their lives, careers, and businesses.

The Center is also home to many camps for kids of all ages throughout the year.

Students at the Lackawanna College Environmental Education Center (LCEEC) can earn certificates in Conservation and Natural Resource, Multi-Level Beekeeping or Sustainable Leadership. Students looking to get involved can join Green Falcons, volunteer or intern on-site.

LCEEC sits on 211 picturesque acres of forests, fields and hiking trails that offer a variety of recreational and educational opportunities. The Center is located within a 5,000 square-foot Gold LEED-certified green building that is constructed to be environmentally responsible and resource-efficient.

LCEEC offers educational public programs and camps year-round for the community. These programs are available for students from preschool through college and focus on the outdoors, sustainability and a compassion for the natural world.

Lackawanna College’s Environmental Education Center conducts a large number of environmental education programs for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade and serves ten regional school districts. We acknowledge the generosity of the businesses listed below that support environmental education.
