President Volk and President-Elect Dr. Murray Issue Letter to Alumni and the Community
Lackawanna College President Mark Volk and President-Elect Dr. Jill A. Murray have released a message to alumni and the local community regarding the decision that course instruction will continue online through the end of the semester and faculty and staff will work from home, amid coronavirus concerns:
Dear Alumni and Community Friends:
In this time of uncertainty, we wanted to provide an update on the measures Lackawanna College is taking amid the spread of COVID-19.
Like institutions world-wide, we are surely entering a phase of our College’s history wholly different from anything we have ever experienced. The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff are paramount, and we are taking the necessary steps to ensure their well-being. In accordance with State, Federal and CDC regulations and suggestions, we have suspended all on-campus programming, and students will receive instruction remotely through the rest of the spring semester. With the exception of a few individuals needed to keep our campus secure, all faculty and staff will be working remotely for the next several weeks.
Though our physical locations will be closed, our commitment to fulfilling our mission is as strong as ever. We remain available to assist current and past students, as well as our community, via phone and email. Information is available on our website at legacylackstg.wpengine.com.
Our highest priority at this point is supporting our students through the completion of their spring semester. The Lackawanna College community, through its committed faculty and staff, is actively working with students to ensure they have the necessary tools to succeed in the online learning environment. For the rest of the semester, we will be reaching out to each and every Lackawanna College student by phone to assist them with any concerns or barriers that might hinder academic success. We are working diligently and creatively to provide a positive educational experience, despite the new stressors and challenges our students now face. All of the services that assist students with their success, including but not limited to advising, student wellness, and tutoring are available through various online platforms.
We will keep our Lackawanna College community updated over the coming weeks. Please know that we wish you and your loved ones good health and safety as we face this crisis together.
