CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Lackawanna College is dedicated to assisting students as they determine their personal interests and aptitudes and develop specific career goals.

The College’s Employment Placement and Internship Coordinator, Beverly O’Hora, serves as the liaison between the College and the business community to facilitate job placement opportunities for Lackawanna students and graduates and to organize on-campus employer recruitment of Lackawanna College students.

Lackawanna College is committed to helping students succeed, from the moment they begin courses until after they graduate.

Students and graduates who need assistance with job and internship opportunities or career advice for after graduation should contact Beverly O’Hora at ohorab@lackawanna.edu.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES

A variety of resources are available to assist students in their career explorations and job searches, including labor market information, job search preparation, job lead information, assistance with preparation of employment documentation such as resumes and cover letters, and utilization of student portfolios in securing employment.

Full- and part-time employment opportunities are posted regularly to www.collegecentral.com/lackawanna and can also be found on the Career Services Job Board, located outside the Writing Center, Room 109 in Angeli Hall.

Students and alumni can create account profiles at www.collegecentral.com/lackawanna to:

  • Search for all full-time, part-time, and internship/co-op job opportunities
  • Create and upload your resume and career portfolio for employers to review
  • Access event announcements, career advice documents, podcasts, videos, and articles

Additionally, internship opportunities are posted regularly on the Internship Job Board, located outside the Employment and Internship Placement Coordinator’s office, which is located on the second floor of Healey Hall.

Students and alumni are encouraged to utilize online tools such as FOCUS 2, an interactive, self-guided career- and education-planning system.

Lackawanna College uses College Central Network as its official resume and job-posting service.

IMPORTANCE OF LACKAWANNA’S CAREER DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Students of Lackawanna College know how important our mission is to us. We want to provide a quality education to every student who wants it.

We work to make our educational opportunities available to everyone, and that effort applies to our satellite campuses, online course offerings, and career development services.

A college without a career planning office is essentially going only half the distance. If we claim to care about our students’ success, then we want to be there for them until they find employment.

It is important to remember that students who have aced all their tests and are approaching graduation do not necessarily know how to sell their recently acquired skills on the job market.

That’s where our career development services come in. We help students and recent graduates to write resumes and cover letters, provide resources on interviewing and career decision-making, and work to match students to relevant internships, co-ops, and employment opportunities.

Take Advantage of Our Career Development Services

It’s all part of the Lackawanna College mission: to provide full educational opportunities to all who seek them. To us, that also includes helping students to secure careers after graduation.

Take advantage of our career development services today!
