Lackawanna Veteran Applicant Details | Lackawanna College

Veteran Applications

Lackawanna College understands the qualities that veterans obtain during their military service. Many of those qualities are shared when we recruit students, so the college community is proud to include veterans as an important part of our student body.

Since 2010, the college has been included on the list of Military Friendly Schools. The list honors the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools which are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students. Lackawanna also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

These support systems help Lackawanna’s faculty and staff meet the unique challenges that today’s student veteran faces. We have developed several programs to make the process easier and to ensure the student meets all requirements set out in the most recent GI Bill® of benefits.

Veterans’ Lounge

A lounge dedicated solely for our veteran students is located on the ground floor of Angeli Hall, Room G08, and is a great location for veteran students to hang out before, in between or after classes, or in the evening. It is equipped with furniture, a TV, a computer, a refrigerator, coffee-maker, and microwave.

Financial Aid Help

BestColleges.com has an extensive guide on financial aid for military members and veterans. Visit their site for an easy-to-follow overview of federal and private educational benefits available to service members and their families.

Operation Educating Veterans

This program is open to veterans, National Guard, Reservists, and active duty military and their families looking to utilize their GI Bill. Short-term training at Lackawanna College could lead to long-term employment for our men and women in uniform.

One-on-one information sessions help provide students with details on our military programs. Representatives from admissions and financial aid can answer questions regarding academic programs, the financial aid and enrollment processes, and future student veteran services.

Student Veterans of America

Lackawanna College Student Veterans of America (LCSVA) was formed in 2011 in order to build respect between the community and our student veterans. Through mutual cooperation, the organization works to bring awareness to veterans and related issues both on- and off-campus.

Since its inception, LCSVA has worked to rake and clear veterans’ cemeteries, plant public memorials, and volunteer time at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. One of their largest projects was the restoration of a Vietnam War memorial garden in Nay Aug Park.
