The ROCKET Project's School Donations | Lackawanna College

ROCKET Project

About the ROCKET Project

Since 2010, Lackawanna College’s Office of the Registrar has used a series of small on-campus fundraisers to make a big impact on elementary school students in the greater Scranton community.

Through the ROCKET Project, which stands for Registrar’s Office Connecting Kids with Educational Tools, backpacks filled with school supplies have been provided to students in the Scranton School District.

The College first adopted third-grade students at George Bancroft Elementary School and continues to serve that population to this day. In 2014, the ROCKET Project expanded to aid students at John Adams Elementary School, and in 2015 the College began donating supplies to South Scranton Intermediate School.

Along with the donation of school supplies, the ROCKET Project purchases school uniforms and playground equipment. The project also funded playground renovations at Bancroft Elementary in 2014. Renovations were completed by student-athletes, Police Academy cadets, and staff.

Funds for the ROCKET Project are raised through monthly on-campus fundraisers that are strongly supported by current College faculty and staff members, local businesses, and more.

Lackawanna has also received additional donations to benefit the ROCKET Project from Follett, M&T Bank, and the law firm of Cognetti and Cimini.
