Lackawanna College’s 409 on Adams offers fine dining and student services

SCRANTON, Pa. – Aug. 10, 2022 – Lackawanna College’s 409 on Adams is known as a place that provides the community with an exceptional culinary experience, but now it’s also a place student can temporarily go for support services.

With Angeli Hall temporarily closed, students can access Admissions, Financial Aid and other student services at 409 on Adams. The new location will mean students will have seamless access to vital services with the new semester starting on Aug. 29.

“Lackawanna College is still open for business and enrolling students despite the situation at Angeli Hall,” said Lackawanna College President Dr. Jill Murray. “This was an unforeseen situation but we were able to meet this challenge and continue to offer our student services with no interruptions. We want students and prospective students to know we are here, open and ready to serve their needs.”

409 on Adams, located in downtown Scranton, is the student-run restaurant at the Kiesendahl School of Hospitality at Lackawanna College. Operated and managed by culinary and hospitality students, the restaurant serves as an instructional environment, providing students with real-world experience.

Students learn real-world skills under the observation of chef instructors by preparing modern and classical menus, managing inventory, creating beverage menus, hiring staff and creating exceptional guest experiences.

Additionally, 409 on Adams has an online store called the Marketplace at 409 on Adams. The store sells professional quality merchandise, culinary and pastry creations, and a line of pet treats produced by students. The e-commerce store also serves as a place to find recipes and cooking tips from the restaurant’s faculty and student chefs, current food trends and restaurant news.

The local community and those visiting the area have raved about 409 on Adams since it opened its doors in February 2019.

David Ortiz, a social media influencer who has a YouTube Channel called “The Good Old Days,” visited 409 on Adams in late 2021. He wasn’t sure what he was going to experience, being that it was a student-run restaurant.

However, he was pleasantly surprised over the high-quality, fine-dining experience he had.

“This was a completely unique dining experience,” Ortiz said on his YouTube channel. “Not only did we get great food, but the menu was unexpectedly exciting and inspiring.”
