Misfits Holiday Pop-Up Returns to Lackawanna College

Misfits - Not Your Average Christmas Bar - November 12 - December 20

The holidays are returning to Lackawanna College’s 409 on Adams, and so is Misfits, the student-run holiday pop-up. This year, Misfits features new spaces and experiences, all created and operated by students in the college’s School of Hospitality program.

What’s New to Misfits

The family-friendly experience transforms 409 on Adams into a festive wonderland with holiday-inspired food, craft cocktails, and seasonal desserts. This year’s pop-up includes brand-new themed spaces:

Bumble’s Ballroom: the crown jewel featuring tinsel chandeliers, disco balls, and a 12-foot lavender holiday tree. A neon fireplace lounge, frosted photo wall, and cozy booths complete the space.
The Frosted Ski Lodge: a ski-chic oasis built from actual skis and sparkling with lights around cozy fire pits, where guests can toast the season and revel in the après vibe.
The Electric Lounge: featuring dark, sultry lighting and a neon flame that creates a mesmerizing glow where the night heats up and conversations spark.
Bumble the Snow Monster: greets guests in the main dining area. The towering fan favorite is always ready to pose for photos.
The Enchanted Ice Passage: invites guests to step through towering, sparkling holiday trees where twinkling lights and whimsical décor create an unforgettable entrance.
Mistletoe & Mischief Bar: featuring sleek lighting and expertly crafted cocktails beneath sleek lighting and a showstopping ornament wall.

A Real-World Learning Experience

Misfits provides hospitality students hands-on experience to adapt to different situations while running the pop-up.

“Our students are accustomed to having a certain number of people come in each night through reservations. Misfits gives them the opportunity to be in an environment that is unpredictable, which is something they will see once they graduate,” said Allison Mayer, Hospitality Education & Enterprise Manager at Lackawanna College.

Building on Last Year’s Success

After a successful first year, welcoming over 10,000 guests through its doors, Misfits is focused on making this season even better.

“Once you have a successful concept, in order to keep it successful, it always has to get better and that’s what we are striving for with Misfits this year,” said Kristen McNally, Director of the School of Hospitality at Lackawanna College.

Plan Your Visit

Misfits is open Wednesday through Saturday 5:00-11:00pm, starting Wednesday, November 12 and ending on Saturday, December 20. The pop-up will not be taking reservations, and guests are welcome to stop in during open hours to celebrate the holiday season at 409 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.
