Misfits Holiday Pop-Up Coming to 409 on Adams
This holiday season, Lackawanna College’s 409 on Adams is getting a festive makeover! Starting November 14 and running through December 21, the restaurant will transform into a student-run holiday pop-up called “Misfits”, a fun and unique way to celebrate the season.
Normal Gets You Nowhere
This won’t be your standard holiday pop-up; Misfits mixes classic and modern décor to create a welcoming seasonal atmosphere. All are invited to the imaginative setting of an old boarding house in the heart of Scranton, where you will find specially designed rooms and a group of misfits who celebrate the holidays in a different way.
“Misfits is not like the traditional red and green of the holidays, this is much more eclectic,” Director of the School of Hospitality Kristen McNally said. “There’s going to be a mix of classical looking trees, a neon fireplace, disco balls, and sparkling ceiling lights.”
A Student Run Experience
The pop-up bar was created by the hospitality students at Lackawanna College, in partnership with the Marywood University’s School of Architecture. The School of Hospitality students are at the center of Misfits, preparing holiday-themed food and drinks for guests to enjoy while they soak in the creative atmosphere. Whether you’re grabbing a drink under the twinkling lights or dining near the neon fireplace, there’s something for everyone.
“This is a whole new way to celebrate the holidays but in a relaxed and welcome way that has room for everybody,” Hospitality Education & Enterprise Manager Susan Markovich said. “Misfits is a different approach to your traditional holiday experience.”

Whether you’re looking for a fun night out or a one of a kind holiday experience, Misfits promises to deliver this holiday season. The pop-up will be open Wednesday through Saturday, from 5 p.m. to midnight, and reservations will not be taken. So, stop by and celebrate the holidays at 409 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18510!
