Lackawanna College Named a “2025 Great College to Work For”, Third Year in a Row

Great Colleges To Work For Recognized - Lackawanna College - The Streak Continues! - Awarded Great College To Work For 2025 - Third Year in a Row

Lackawanna College has earned recognition as one of the America’s best places to work in higher education for a third consecutive year. The college was awarded this honor by the 2025 Great Colleges to Work For® program, a distinction that places Lackawanna among 76 institutions nationwide.

The Great Colleges to Work For program, published in a special edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education, evaluates workplace culture at colleges and universities across the country through comprehensive surveys of faculty, staff, and administrators.

How We Stand Out

Results are reported by institution size, and Lackawanna College was recognized in the small college category, which includes schools with enrollments between 500 and 2,999 students. This year, Lackawanna College won honors in two categories:

Job Satisfaction & Support – reflecting how well the college supports its employees both professionally and personally.
Mission & Pride – highlighting the strong sense of purpose and institutional loyalty among faculty and staff.

A Legacy of Success

“Being named a great college to work for, for the third consecutive year is a tremendous honor that reflects the exceptional dedication and collaborative spirit of our faculty and staff,” said Jill Murray, President and Chief Innovation Officer at Lackawanna College. “Our team here at the college shows unwavering commitment to our students and genuine care for one another, creating an outstanding workplace culture that defines our institution. I am deeply grateful for their continued excellence that makes this recognition possible.”

The rankings are the result of a two-part assessment process: an institutional questionnaire that gathers detailed information on employment data and workplace policies, and a survey distributed to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

“This accomplishment reflects our commitment to creating an environment where both faculty and staff can thrive throughout their careers. From robust professional development programs to supportive workplace initiatives, we’ve built a culture where our people are excited to contribute and eager to grow professionally,” said Renee Mundy, Vice President of Human Resources at Lackawanna College. “I believe this honor demonstrates that when we invest in our employees’ growth and well-being, they bring their best to our students and institution. Our faculty and staff are our greatest assets, and this honor reflects our shared dedication to maintaining a workplace that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional talent.”

As Lackawanna College continues to build on its success of being a great place to work for a third year in a row, this recognition demonstrates creating an exceptional workplace is necessary for excellence in education.
