Lackawanna College Named Great College To Work For 2024 - 2024 Great Colleges To Work For Recognized

Lackawanna College has once again been recognized as one of the top workplaces in higher education, earning a spot on the Great Colleges to Work For® list for the second year in a row.

A Prestigious National Recognition

The 2024 rankings, published today in The Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a national survey of 216 colleges and universities. Out of these, only 75 institutions were awarded the “Great College to Work For” designation, with Lackawanna College being honored in the small college category, which includes schools with enrollments between 500 and 2,999 students.

Recognition Across Multiple Categories

This year, Lackawanna College won honors in two recognition categories:

 • Job Satisfaction & Support: Recognizes institutions where employees have high job satisfaction, feel supported, and have the resources to succeed.

• Mission & Pride: Highlights institutions where employees understand the mission, take pride in their work, and recommend the college as a great place to work.

Commitment to Excellence

Lackawanna College President and Chief Innovation Officer, Jill Murray, Ph.D., expressed her pride in earning this achievement again. “”Receiving recognition once again as a ‘Great College to Work For’ is a profound honor and a reflection of our collective efforts to build an exceptional workplace. This recognition highlights the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm that each team member brings to our organization. It is not just a reflection of our workplace culture but a celebration of the values we uphold and the commitment we share to support and inspire our students, and each other, every day.”

The recognition is based on a detailed assessment process that includes both an institutional questionnaire and a survey of faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. Employee feedback played a crucial role in determining which institutions made the list, underscoring the authenticity of the results.

Vice President of Human Resources Renee Mundy, Esq., SPHR, SHRM-SCP, shared how Lackawanna College employees make this recognition possible. “Earning this distinction once again is a powerful affirmation of the dedication our employees demonstrate each day in embodying our mission. We are committed to providing high quality education to our students and working to improve our surrounding communities. This honor is a direct result of their hard work and their commitment to making our mission a reality, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.”
