The Carpentry and Construction Technology program prepares and trains you for high-demand positions in the residential and commercial carpentry and construction fields. The program offers you a comprehensive educational experience, combining theory with extensive hands-on training.

More About the Program

Lackawanna College’s Carpentry and Construction Technology program, equips you with not only the technical skills required for a successful career, but also focuses on critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and the leadership skills required in the industry. You will gain valuable experience with blueprint reading, site layout, foundations and formwork, masonry, floor framing, wall framing, roof framing, stair construction, interior and exterior finishing, kitchen and cabinet design, and cabinet construction and joinery techniques. You will also be introduced to related electrical and plumbing techniques, cost estimating, construction contracts, and project management concepts.

Emphasis is placed on the mechanical and problem-solving skills necessary to take an active role in modern construction. You will gain knowledge of safety standards, OSHA regulations, Uniform Construction Code (UCC), and International Residential Code (IRC) requirements to ensure safe working practices, construction techniques, and design.
