President Mark Volk Announces Plans for Fall Commencement
President Mark Volk sends a message to students about plans for an in-person Fall Commencement Ceremony to celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020 during Homecoming Weekend:
We know how challenging the last few weeks have been, and you are never far from our thoughts! We hope you are adjusting to the online learning environment and taking full advantage of all the resources designed to help you!
We wanted to share a few important announcements to answer some common questions. If you complete all degree requirements in May, your diplomas will be issued with the date of May 17, 2020 and mailed to you shortly after that time. If you need the summer to complete your degree requirements, your diploma will be conferred and mailed on August 14, 2020.
We are planning a Fall Commencement Ceremony to celebrate and recognize the Class of 2020 during our Homecoming Weekend (October 1-3). We haven’t yet solidified the exact date or time, so look for that information soon.
We will be holding a virtual Phi Theta Kappa induction and awarding our Honors Convocation awards electronically this Spring. More to come on that, as well!
Rest assured that your Falcon family is doing as much as we can to make the rest of the semester as positive as possible! This includes determining the appropriate manner in which room and board charges should be handled based on additional guidance from the Federal government.
Also, once the Closure and Stay in Place orders in Pennsylvania have been lifted, we will announce a plan to provide opportunities for resident students to return campus and collect their belongings. Please do not come to campus until we contact you with a schedule.
Stay healthy, well, and focused on your studies!
Mark Volk, President
