Tuition & Fees Summary

Student Activity Fee

The Student Activity Fee supports a wide range of co-curricular programs, services, and resources designed to enhance the overall student experience and foster a vibrant, inclusive campus community. This fee provides students with access to campus events, student clubs and organizations, leadership development opportunities, wellness and recreational activities, and a variety of social and educational programming.

Funds collected through this fee support student engagement initiatives and student life programming that promote involvement, connection, and success both inside and outside the classroom. For center and online students, the fee also supports virtual engagement opportunities, online student resources, and remote access to student life programming, ensuring equitable access to services across all learning modalities.

The Student Activity Fee is considered an allowable institutional charge and is included in a student’s Cost of Attendance.  As such, it may be covered by applicable financial aid in accordance with federal regulations.

Technology Fee

The Information Technology Fee supports the infrastructure, systems, and services necessary to provide students with reliable access to technology resources essential for academic success. This includes maintenance and enhancement of learning management systems, student information systems, campus network services, cybersecurity measures, software licensing, and student access to digital tools and platforms used in coursework and institutional operations.

The Technology Fee is considered an allowable institutional charge and is included in a student’s Cost of Attendance.  As such, it may be covered by applicable financial aid in accordance with federal regulations.

Specific Program and Course Fees

Program and Course Fees are additional direct fees that apply to a specific program (major) or a specific course to support the purchase of course/program materials (excluding books). A full list of these fees can be found under the Tuition and Fees Schedule.

The Specific Program and Course Fees are considered allowable institutional charges and are included in a student’s Cost of Attendance.  As such, it may be covered by applicable financial aid in accordance with federal regulations.

Commitment Fee

The Commitment Fee is a one-time, non-refundable fee charged to all newly admitted students to confirm their intent to enroll at the College.  This fee allows the College to plan and allocate the necessary academic, administrative, and student support resources in advance of the start of classes.

The Commitment Fee supports new student onboarding activities, including placement testing (if applicable), and other transition services designed to help students successfully begin their academic journey.

Students who intend to live on campus are assessed a total Commitment Fee of $375, which includes the standard enrollment commitment and secures a space in College housing.  Commuter students are assessed a total Commitment Fee of $100.

New Student Orientation Fee

The New Student Orientation Fee is a one-time fee of $650 charged to all first-time students upon initial enrollment and helps support student’s transition to Lackawanna College.  This fee is used to fund orientation programming, new student engagement initiatives, and related materials and services that support students’ successful transition to the College. Covered expenses include orientation sessions, onboarding communications, student success programming, and institutional resources provided at the start of enrollment.

The New Student Orientation Fee is considered an allowable institutional charge and is included in a student’s Cost of Attendance.  As such, it may be covered by applicable financial aid in accordance with federal regulations.

Late Payment Fee

The Late Payment Fee is assessed every 30 days after the start of a semester or a term to students who have not paid their balance due. The fees collected are utilized as an additional resource for funding student activities.

Student Activity Fee Billings

During the 2024/25 fiscal year, $446,000 in Student Activity Fees were billed to students, all of which was used to offset the previously noted expenses.

Information Technology Fee Billings

During the 2024/25 fiscal year, $1,231,000 in Information Technology Fees were billed to students, all of which was used to offset information technology expenditures.
