Lackawanna College is a private, accredited college serving the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our main campus is located in downtown Scranton, and our footprint includes satellite centers in Covington Twp., Hawley, Hazleton, Sunbury, Towanda and Tunkhannock.
Our curriculum provides students with a direct path to a bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or one of many different professional certifications. Additionally, our Continuing Education department helps put the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania back to work with modern career skills.

Institutional Accreditation
Lackawanna College is approved by the Pennsylvania State Department of Education to grant bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, and professional certificates.
Lackawanna College is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) www.msche.org. Lackawanna College’s accreditation status is Accreditation Reaffirmed. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status in August 2025 was to approve the College’s substantive change request to include additional locations at 105 Wilson Avenue, Greensburg, PA 15601, 3184 Airport Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017, and 1669 Opportunity Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 within the institution’s scope of accreditation. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education, including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The United States Department of Education (USDE) recognizes accrediting agencies deemed authorities on the quality of higher education. Under the Higher Education Act’s (HEA’s) federal student aid programs, accrediting agencies recognized by USDE must meet the Department’s regulatory criteria. MSCHE is a Title IV gatekeeper and is a link to federal programs, and institutions access Title IV through MSCHE accreditation.
Lackawanna College undergoes the process of MSCHE self-study every eight years. Self-study is a collaborative process under which the institution performs a self-assessment of itself to determine its ability to meet the MSCHE Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation.
