More About the Program

The Bachelor’s in Technology Management degree offers four tracks for students to gain knowledge in a specific field. You’re first two years will be focused on a specific track of your choosing then your remaining two years will focus on the Technology Management programs.

 Graduates of the Bachelors in Technology Management degree, will be able to:

  • Oversee the process of analyzing a problem and identifying and defining the technology requirements appropriate to its solution.
  • Facilitate and manage the selection, design, integration, implementation, evaluation, and administration of computer-based systems to meet defined user needs.
  • Manage and lead teams that function effectively to accomplish a common goal.
  • Analyze computing-related ethical, legal and social issues to enable responsible professional practice and an ability to synthesize policy recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  • Employ a familiarity with current techniques, concepts, tools, and practices in the core information technologies to make sound business decisions.
  • Create and execute an effective project plan.


The four tracks for the Technology Management degree are:

Cybersecurity

This track is for those who want to move into leadership roles overseeing information security programs, compliance initiatives, and technology risk management strategies. You’ll bridge technical expertise and organizational leadership, learning to manage security systems, communicate risk to executives, and design security programs.

You will learn how to:

  • Interpret the fundamental concepts and techniques of cybersecurity.
  • Analyze cyber security measures for all the major computer science components including operating systems, networks, databases, programming, and information assurance.
  • Apply coursework concepts to hands-on laboratory exercises to demonstrate cybersecurity skills.
  • Recognize the ethical and moral responsibilities of cybersecurity in the modern age.

Electric Vehicle and Advanced Automotive Technology

This track prepares you to lead the automotive industry’s electric transformation. You’ll gain both technical literacy in EV and advanced vehicle systems and management competencies for leading teams, overseeing operations, and driving strategic initiatives in automotive manufacturing, service, and technology development environments.

Completing this track you will:

  • Understand EV drivetrain systems, battery management, and charging infrastructure.
  • Manage automotive service operations and technical teams effectively.
  • Apply technology management principles to automotive manufacturing and service.
  • Navigate regulatory requirements for electric vehicles and emissions standards.

Petroleum & Natural Gas

This track leverages Lackawanna College’s unique connection to the Pennsylvania energy industry through its School of Petroleum and Natural Gas. You’ll gain in-depth knowledge of petroleum and natural gas operations, drilling, production, pipeline management, and safety compliance, combined with the management skills to lead at every stage of the energy value chain.

Completing this track you will:

  • Understand petroleum and natural gas extraction, processing, and distribution systems.
  • Apply technology management principles to energy operations.
  • Lead field operations teams safely and efficiently.
  • Navigate environmental regulations and industry safety standards.

Robotics & Automation

This track will prepare you for a career at the forefront of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing. You’ll develop expertise in robotic systems, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, actuators, and industrial networks, alongside management skills for leading technical teams and overseeing automation initiatives in manufacturing, logistics, and beyond.

Completing this track you will:

  • Understand and manage robotic systems including PLCs, sensors, and industrial automation components.
  • Lead technical teams in robotic installation, maintenance, and optimization projects.
  • Navigate safety standards and regulatory requirements for industrial robotics.
