A New Path in the Skilled Trades is Coming to the Heart of Greensburg

Lackawanna College Greensburg Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Skilled trades jobs are in high demand across Pennsylvania, and Greensburg has a new place to train for them. Lackawanna College is set to open its new Greensburg Center this summer in Greensburg, offering two associate degree programs that lead directly to careers employers are actively hiring for.

To celebrate the opening, the college is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday July 15, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Following the ribbon cutting, the Greensburg Center will host an open house Saturday July 18, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Prospective students and community members are welcome to tour the facility, meet the faculty, and learn more about our new programs.

About Our Facility

The Greensburg Center features approximately 6,000 square feet of classroom and laboratory space and includes a 4,000-square-foot Weld Shop with 30 individual welding booths. The facility is built around hands-on learning, giving students access to industry equipment and real-world training from the start of their education.

About Our New Programs

The Greensburg Center offers two associate degree programs, both of which appear on the 2025 High Priority Occupations List for the PA Workforce Development Boards.

  • Electrical Technology prepares students for careers in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work, building a strong foundation in wiring, circuit design, and troubleshooting. Graduates can earn between $39,430 and $106,030 annually across the U.S.
  • Welding and Fabrication Technology prepares students for careers in welding, manufacturing, and pipeline industries. Students gain hands-on experience in blueprint reading, fabrication, and plate and pipe welding, training in oxy-acetylene, stick, TIG, MIG, and core wire processes. Students also have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications including the AWS D1.1 (3G and 4G) plate welding certification and API 1104 and ASME IX pipe welding certifications. Graduates can earn between $38,130 and $75,850 annually across the U.S.

Classes begin August 31, 2026, and no prior experience is required to enroll.
