The Continuing Education department often offers enrichment programs and other courses designed to provide participants with personal growth opportunities. These are short, non-credit programs offered during evening or weekend hours.
Previous community education programs have covered topics including business social media, sales skills training, intentional networking, American Sign Language, and various other offerings.
Core Manufacturing Skills Certificate
This program begins August 17, 2020, with courses online and at our Towanda Center!
The Lackawanna College Core Manufacturing Skills Certificate program is a FREE 200-hour program that will provide participants with skills necessary for entry-level positions in advanced manufacturing through classroom, simulation-based, and online skill-building lessons.
What will completing the program mean for me?
Earn nationally-recognized credentials and prepare for a rewarding manufacturing career!
Employment opportunities exist after graduation in areas including:
- Quality Assurance
- Safety Compliance
By completing the program and passing a final competency assessment, students will earn a Core Manufacturing Skills Certificate from Lackawanna College and NEPIRC, which is recognized by area manufacturing industry employers.
What will I learn in the program?
Instruction will include, but not be limited to:
- lessons in problem-solving
- workplace math
- manufacturing processes and control
- OSHA 10
- GDT and blueprint reading
- quality, safety, value stream, and maintenance.
How long is the program?
This program is 8 weeks for 5 hours per day, with Monday through Thursday being either classroom and instruction and Friday being “field trip” day, where students are taken on tours to area manufacturers.

The program begins on August 17, 2020 online and at our Towanda Center.

Real Estate Fundamentals and Practices
This 60-hour program provides students with the required training needed to apply for the Pennsylvania State Real Estate Licensing Exam. The Real Estate Fundamentals course (30 hours) introduces the student to the language, principles, and legal concepts that govern real estate ownership and its transfer in Pennsylvania. The Real Estates Practices course (30 hours) provides an introduction to the real estate business, and will focus on areas of specialization, including: techniques, procedures, and ethics involved in a real estate transaction. This course is designed to provide a working knowledge of forms and documents.
The Real Estate Fundamentals and Practices class is currently offered at the Lake Region Center.
Dynamic workshops that test decision-making skills in real life project management simulation using decision making tools that one can put to work back on the job immediately.
This program is offered at the Scranton campus and Lake Region Center.
