More About the Program
Lackawanna’s Agribusiness course curriculum will prepare students for the wide range of jobs and introduce them to various topics. Our curriculum allows students to learn more about the different areas of study within agribusiness.
Agribusiness requires students to learn not only important agricultural practices and related sciences, but also the business side of today’s agriculture.
Lackawanna College Lake Region Center’s expectations and content in the Agribusiness major align with the priorities set forth by the United States Department of Agriculture. The goals of the program include:
- Demonstrating professional and ethical behavior in all academic and externships and/or field studies
- Applying conceptual knowledge to practice sustainable agriculture
- Enhancing the practice of sustainable agriculture by partnering with agriculture community leaders.
The Course Work
Students will learn hands-on tasks that workers perform every day. Courses like organic crop production, sustainable livestock management and plant propagation, help prepare students for hands-on work in their future careers. An internship is required and gives student experience in the business before graduation.
