President Mark Volk Issues Coronavirus Message to Students

Lackawanna College President Mark Volk has released a new message to students regarding the decision to move all instruction online at the conclusion of the extended Spring Break for the main campus and all Centers Monday, March 23 through Sunday, April 5:

Dear Students:

I wanted to reach out to keep you up-to-date on the College’s plan regarding classes. Lackawanna College is not aware of any confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of this time among our college community We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation.

Because of the fluidity of the situation around us and into the communities we serve, the decision has been made to move all instruction online at the conclusion of the extended Spring Break. This applies to all Lackawanna College campuses. You will be able to access your courses through the Canvas platform. At this time, online instruction will take place from Monday, March 23 through Sunday, April 5. Subterm 2 online courses will begin on Monday, March 16 as scheduled.

Prior to April 5th, a decision to return to traditional classes or to remain online through the remainder of the semester will be made and the information sent to you.

As a reminder, resident students are NOT TO RETURN to the dormitories unless given specific permission by Student Affairs.

The College’s administrative operations, including all student support offices, such as Student Wellness, tutoring, etc., remain open and available to students. Also, computer labs with internet access will continue to be available to students.

We recognize that this is a challenging time for you all. Please know that we are here for you and will work with you to help you through this time of uncertainty. If there was ever a moment for us to rally together as Falcons, this is it.

Your health and safety, as well as that of our entire community, is our top priority, and we will continue to communicate with you if there are any updates.

Please encourage your families and anyone else interested in the latest information from Lackawanna College to visit lackawanna.edu/coronavirus-information. You can also check the Portal for the most up-to-date information.
