Where is the Admissions Office located?

The Admission Office is located on Ground Floor of Angeli Hall at 501 Vine St., Scranton PA 18509.

What are the operation hours for the Admissions Office?

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Meetings with admissions staff outside of standard hours are also available by appointment.

Can I transfer Lackawanna College credits to other colleges or universities?

Yes, if you earn an Associate in Science or Associate in Arts Degree from Lackawanna College and graduate with a grade point average of 2.0 or higher you have guaranteed acceptance to the State System universities. Lackawanna College also has established articulation agreements with colleges and universities across the state and country.

Does Lackawanna College offer classes at locations other than Scranton?

The main campus is located in downtown Scranton; however, Lackawanna College operates four satellite centers in Hazleton, Hawley (Lake Region), Sunbury, Towanda, and Tunkhannock for students in these areas who wish to take classes in a more convenient location.

Does Lackawanna College offer on-campus housing?

Yes, the College does offer on-campus resident housing for both male and female students. Please note that campus resident housing is only offered on the Scranton campus.

Does Lackawanna College offer online classes?

Lackawanna College offers a number of online classes for students and will continue to expand these offerings in the future.

Does Lackawanna College offer classes in the summer?

Yes, two academic sessions are offered in the summer months, as well as a brief academic session in the month of January for students who wish to take extra classes between the fall and spring semesters.

Does Lackawanna College accept international students?

Yes, Lackawanna College is certified to accept and enroll international students.

Are the tuition rates the same for out-of-state students?

Lackawanna College is a private institution and tuition rates are standard for all students.

What is the student to faculty ratio?


Do I need to have taken the SAT’s or ACT’s for admission?

They are not required; however, we recommend all applicants take the exam at least once. If you do not submit any aptitude scores, you will be required to take a placement test before being accepted.

How many credits do I need to earn to receive my degree?

Most bachelor’s degree programs require 120-124 credits, and most associate degree programs require 60 credits. Some of the associate-level Allied Health- and Technology-based programs such as Vascular Technology or Natural Gas Technology vary between 60 and 70 depending on the specific nature of the program.

Does Lackawanna College have an application deadline?

The College utilizes a rolling admissions policy and does accept applications up to the first day of classes for each semester.

Are essays or letters of recommendation required for enrollment?

Essays and letters of recommendation are certainly encouraged but not required for acceptance.

I am transferring to Lackawanna College. Do I still need to provide my high school transcript or GED?

Yes, all applicants must provide a final high school transcript or GED before starting classes.

At what level of athletics does Lackawanna College compete?

Most of the athletic programs compete at the Division II Junior College level and are governed by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).

Does Lackawanna College offer scholarship aid for athletic participation?

Yes, we offer athletic scholarship aid. The College is eligible to offer tuition-only scholarships for student-athletes due to the NJCAA Division II classification.

Am I required to attend a freshman/new student orientation?

Yes, all incoming students are required to attend freshman/new student orientation. Students that have completed all admissions requirements will be scheduled for orientation by our Student Affairs Office sometime in the early summer. Freshman/New Student Orientation will be held sometime in mid-to-late August.

Does Lackawanna College offer freshman scholarships?

The College does offer several scholarships for both incoming freshman and returning students.

Does Lackawanna College accept credit for Advanced Placement (AP) or Dual Enrollment courses completed in High School?

Yes. All Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses will need to be evaluated through our Registrar’s Office prior to initial enrollment.

Can I pay any of my enrollment fees/tuition by debit card or credit card over the phone?

The Business Office can process payments over the phone. You can reach the Business Office at (570) 961-7820.

Does Lackawanna College offer Academic Support Services?

The College offers various support services free of charge for the student population. There are Math/Reading/Writing labs available for students that need additional support in these academic areas. Students also have access to a free on-line tutoring service called Smart-Think that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the convenience of the student.

What is the geographic diversity among Lackawanna College Students who attend the Main Campus?

Sixty-four percent of students who attend Lackawanna College are from Lackawanna County. Seventeen percent are from outlying northeastern Pennsylvania counties; 9 percent are from Pennsylvania, but outside NEPA; and 10 percent of students are from out-of-state.
