Lackawanna College Initiates Weekender Program in Towanda
Lackawanna College’s Towanda Center will introduce a new Weekender Program beginning in January which is specifically designed to make the acquisition of a higher education degree convenient for working people.
The Weekend Program creates an efficient process that allows students to complete the requirements for a degree within a two-and-half-year time frame.
Initially, the Weekender Program will offer three degree concentrations to students: Human Services, Business Studies and Liberal Studies. Within the program, students can acquire nine credits per term by taking classes just on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Classes meet in specific rotations that maximize the effective use of time. Starting with the spring semester, students taking part in Schedule A classes will meet on Fridays from 5 to 7:45 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 to 11:45 a.m. for the Introduction to Psychology course.
Schedule B classes for the College Writing course will meet on Saturdays from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 to 11:45 a.m.
Students taking Schedule C classes in either Introduction to Human Services or Principles of Management will meet on Saturdays from 4 to 6:45 p.m. and on Sundays from 12:30 to 3:15 p.m.
An Open House will be held at Lackawanna’s Towanda Center at One Progress Plaza on Friday, December 1, and Friday, December 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. to provide more information about the Weekend Program and to answer questions about the college entrance process.
