Lackawanna College Names Scholarship Winners
Lackawanna College has announced the awarding of 16 scholarships for the upcoming 2008-09 Academic Year to current returning students.
"Each year the number of applicants for our scholarships increases and it becomes an even more difficult task to select the winners from among so many worthy candidates," said Lackawanna President Raymond Angeli. "The demonstrated academic abilities and accomplishments of the individuals chosen confirm the outstanding quality of the students who attend Lackawanna College."
This year's scholarship winners are:
Margaret Briggs Scholarships were presented to Brittany Penetra of Thornhurst and Kimberly Eastman of Greenfield Township.
The Costa Family Scholarship went to Nicole Ferraro of Scranton.
The Ben Franklin Scholarship, given by the Scranton Area Foundation, went to Damon Musso of Clarks Green.
The Mary Kazinetz Krause Scholarship was awarded to Alexis Sopchak of Scranton.
The James J. and Alice Mellow Scholarship went to Darlene Newton of Wyalusing.
The Becky Pocius Scholarship went to Kristen Hummel of Ambler.
The John H. Seeley Memorial Scholarship was given to Gregory Keating of Dunmore.
The Dr. Margaret Tobin Scholarship went to Matthew Amos of Scranton.
The Towanda Center Scholarship went to Emily Vinson of Troy.
The UNICO National Foundation Scholarship went to Benjamin Benoit of Scranton.
United Parcel Services Scholarships were awarded to Stacey Koch of Peckville, Susan Leroy of Carbondale, Meaghan McGovern of Scranton and Jessica Yerke of Moscow.
The Ronald W. Williams Sr. Scholarship went to Nicholas Georgetti of Scranton.
