Lackawanna College Appoints Vice President for Academic Affairs
Raymond Angeli, President of Lackawanna College, has announced the appointment of Jill Murray, Ph.D., to the college’s administration in the position of Vice President for Academic Affairs.
As the college’s senior academic officer, Dr. Murray will oversee curriculum and faculty, with the Dean of Academics, the Dean of Enrollment Management Services, the Dean of Student Affairs and the Director of Information Literacy reporting to her.
The spectrum of Dr. Murray’s interests and activities is vast. She has had an extensive career as an educator and as a business executive. She comes to Lackawanna College from Marywood University where she was serving as Director of the Institute for Health and Wellness, starting up that not-for-profit corporation and managing its operations. She also served as an adjunct Philosophy instructor at Marywood. In addition, she has served as online faculty for the University of Phoenix.
Dr. Murray was previously employed by CIGNA Healthcare where she was Director of Service Operations for a regional managed care and national pharmacy platform. She also had multi-site responsibilities for quality improvement initiatives at both the Bristol, Connecticut site as well as the Scranton office. Dr. Murray also worked for UPS, another Fortune 500 company, with business management responsibilities both in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Pocono regions.
“We are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Murray joining our college,” said President Angeli. “With her outstanding record of achievement as an educator and her organizational and management skills, she is the perfect person to lead Lackawanna College’s continued expansion and upgrading of academic programs and opportunities.”
Dr. Murray received her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Scranton and her master’s in Philosophy from the State University of New York at Albany. Her master’s concentration was in Ethics and Philosophy of Education. She earned her doctorate from Marywood University in Human Development. She also holds certificates in Six Sigma Process Improvement from Villanova University.
Dr. Murray is an avid reader and golfer, a supporter of the NEPA Philharmonic as well as a member of the Board of the Himmler Theater Restoration Project in Dallas Pennsylvania. She resides in Dunmore. |
