College to Offer Deferred Tuition Payments to State Workers
With the Pennsylvania state budget at an impasse, Lackawanna College has announced that any state workers or their dependents who attend the College will have their tuition payments deferred until the budget crisis is resolved.
State employees received only 70% of their compensation for days worked in June and will receive nothing on their next payday which is July 31.
“We know everyone in the state of Pennsylvania is affected by the absence of a budget,” said Lackawanna College President Raymond Angeli. “But we don’t want our students’ education interrupted by the process. This will allow state workers’ children to continue moving forward with their education until the budget is resolved.”
Effective for the fall semester, which begins August 31, any student attending the College whose parents are employed by the state will not need to make tuition payments until 30 days after they receive their first paycheck of the new fiscal year. The same tuition extension also applies for state workers who are Lackawanna College students.
