LACKAWANNA COLLEGE NAMES FIVE MEMBERS TO BOARD
Dominick DeNaples, Chairman of Lackawanna College’s Board of Trustees, has announced the appointment of five new members to the college’s Board. They are Catherine A. Bolton, Jody G. Cordaro, Michael M. Murphy, Jack Truschel, Ed.D. and Psy.D., and John P. Wiercinski.
“We are extremely fortunate to add people with such extensive experience and diverse credentials to Lackawanna College’s Board,” said Mr. DeNaples. “Their presence and abundant talents will keep the college on its present path of dynamic growth and innovative expansion.”
Catherine A. Bolton is a highly successful business executive with extensive experience restructuring and implementing organizational change, strategic planning and budgeting, corporate communicati on and public relations, and crisis communication. She is founder and a proprietor of River Rock Communication LLC, a marketing and public relations company specializing in business development, media relations and crisis communication, events and working with non-profit organizations.
Prior to establishing that company, Ms. Bolton was President and Chief Operating Officer of the Public Relations Society of America in New York City. She had also been Vice President, Director of Worldwide Communication Programs for International Copper, Director of Corporate Communications for Akzo Nobel Salt, Director of Corporate Development and Special Projects for New York’s WNET Public Television, Director of Administration for the Princess Grace Foundation and National Manager Public Relations for the Six Flags Corporation.
Ms. Bolton received her bachelor’s degree in Advertising Communication from Jersey City State University. In addition, she has participated in executive development programs at the Harvard School of Business, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and the Akzo Nobel International School of Management.
Jody G. Cordaro is a businessman with diverse experience in construction and environmental services. He currently oversees the daily operations of SCE Environmental Group, Inc., Belladaro Group, Inc., Valkarr Rents, Inc., Helicor Aviation LLC, JC Square Developers and Belladaro Realty, LP. SCE Environmental handles environmental remediation projects, large scale demolition and corporate risk assessment. Belladaro Group focuses on bridge rehabilitation, highway, waterway and marina work, and disaster emergency services. Valkarr Rents is a renter of heavy equipment and tools in the Northeast. Helicor Aviation operates a multi-state helicopter charter and emergency medical services company. Belladaro Realty is a national brownfield real estate development company.
Among his projects, Mr. Cordaro managed the environmental support staff for the sampling and decontamination of the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, D.C., after an anthrax attack; oversaw cleanup and decontamination work at Ground Zero at the World Trade Center; and led the largest cleanup project ever completed in the Bahamas involving a 500,000 gallon oil spill. Mr. Cordaro has received special training and certifications in the areas of hazardous material operations, radiation worker requirements and damage control. He is the author of “Charting New Paths in Bioremediation.”
Michael M. Murphy is an entrepreneur who founded Redline Towing in 1986 and Redline Leasing in 1992 and serves as President and CEO of both companies. A corporate pilot for ten years, Mr. Murphy founded Erin Air in 2002 to provide private charter services. He has also created Elite Warehousing Corporation in 2006.
Operating from a location in Dickson City, Redline provides regular and heavy duty towing and recovery services around the clock throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania as well as tractor and trailer repair and maintenance. In addition, the leasing company provides vans, tractors, trailers and flatbeds.
Mr. Murphy has been a member of the board of directors of Pennstar Bank since 2001 and the NBT Bank Corporation since 2002. He serves on the Trust, Compensation and Permanent Loan committees at NBT Bank. He has also been a member of the board of Pioneer American Bank. He has served on the advisory boards of Johnson College and the Lackawanna County Career Center which he had attended.
Educator and psychologist Jack Truschel, Ed.D., Psy.D., is an Associate Professor and Director of the Academic Advising Center for Undeclared Students at East Stroudsburg University. Since joining that college in 1989, he has served as Director of Sponsored Research, Grants, Contracts and Regional Development. In addition, he is a Psychological Consultant who evaluates children ages 2.5 to 21 years to determine the need for the services of behavior specialists, mobile therapists and therapeutic support staff. He has also provided educational consulting services to Lackawanna College.
Mr. Truschel graduated from King’s College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and earned two master’s degrees from Marywood University, one in Clinical Psychology and the second in Public Administration. He received an Ed.D. from Temple University in Educational Administration, Leadership and Policy Studies, and a Psy.D. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a frequent presenter at national and state conferences of such organizations as the National Association for Developmental Education, the Association for the Tutoring Profession, the National Academic Advising Association, and the College Reading and Learning Association. Author of many professional journal articles, he has contributed several chapters to the book “Best Practices in Tutoring Training as Easy as ATP” to be published in 2008.
John P. Wiercinski, a renowned expert in the field of health care management, has been Regional Vice President for Geisinger Northeast in Wilkes-Barre since 2007. In that capacity, he focuses on program and market development, strategic planning and partnerships, community involvement and government relations. Previously, he had served as Chief Administrative Officer of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Before joining Geisinger, Mr. Wiercinski had been President and Chief Executive Officer of Shamokin Area Community Hospital and Northumberland Health Services, Inc.; Senior Vice President, Operations, for Bradford Regional Medical Center; and Director, Bureau of Planning of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. While a captain in the Air Force, Mr. Wiercinski had served as Assistant Administrator of the USAF Hospital at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
A graduate of the University of Scranton with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Mr. Wiercinski earned a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Administration from Xavier University in Ohio. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served as a board member of the American Hospital Association, the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Rural Health Association and the American Red Cross Wyoming Valley Chapter. |
