Falcons play for league championship on Saturday
The Lackawanna College host Dean College on Saturday, November 7 at John Henzes Veterans Memorial Stadium in Peckville. The winner of the game will be Northeast Football Conference champion. Dean won last year’s meeting 38-28 in Franklin, MA.
Healey Academic Center dedication slated for Thursday
Lackawanna College President Raymond Angeli and the Board of Trustees are proud to announce the renaming and dedication of the current Academic Center to the Francis X. Healey Academic Center. The dedication ceremony will take place on November 5, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at the Center located on the College’s downtown campus at 415 North Washington Avenue.

Chef Kate to Teach Holiday Cooking Classes at Lackawanna
Chef Kate will be conducting three different holiday themed cooking classes at Lackawanna College this fall. Each class will be offered on two different dates and will take place at Lackawanna College’s kitchen located in the Healey Academic Center at 415 North Washington Avenue in Scranton.
Kate Gabriele, a native of Mountain Top Pennsylvania and chef/host of “Cooking with Kate” at Rustic Kitchen Bistro & Bar at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs simply loves to cook! While Kate’s travels have taken her across the pond and to all points across America, home is where her heart is in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Scranton Native Jeff Birnbaum to Be Featured Speaker at the Mellow Theater
Jeff Birnbaum, veteran Washington journalist, TV commentator and award-winning author will speak at Lackawanna College’s Mellow Theater on Thursday, November 5 at 6:30 p.m. His program, entitled, Wall Street, Big Banks and Washington: Can they get along?” is presented by the Lackawanna College United Cultures Leadership Institute as part of its new speaker series. The lecture is free and open to the public. Funding for this event is provided by “Wall Street West,” a federal and state supported initiative to develop a total back-up solution for companies in financial services, information technology, and related fields.
Women’s Soccer team wins first-ever playoff game; Play semifinal game Tuesday
The Women's Soccer team won its first round Region XIX Division II Tournament game by beating County College of Morris 1-0. Shannon Krajkovich scored in the 38th minute off a corner kick from Dee Barletti. The game marked the first time in the program’s short three-year history that they have made the playoffs.
The Lady Falcons travel to Burlington CC on Tuesday, October 27 to play the Barons in a Region XIX semifinal contest. Game time is 2 P.M.
Women's Soccer team makes playoffs for first time; Game to broadcast live on Saturday
The Lackawanna College Women's Soccer Team has qualified for its first ever Region XIX Division II Soccer Tournament. They will play a first round home contest this Saturday, October 24, 2009, against County College of Morris. This game will be played at Dunmore High School, 300 West Warren St., Dunmore, PA. Start time for the contest is scheduled for 1:00 PM. The game will also be broadcast live on www.redzonemedia.com

The Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team will host “Kids’ Night Out” on Friday, September 11, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Student Union Gymnasium. The event is open to children aged 6 to 13 at a cost of $25 per child (3 more siblings for $50).

College to Offer Deferred Tuition Payments to State Workers With the Pennsylvania state budget at an impasse, Lackawanna College has announced that any state workers or their dependents who attend the College will have their tuition payments deferred until the budget crisis is resolved.
