Amy Grant opens Community Concerts’ 2013-2014 season
On October 26, 2013, six time Grammy Award winning artist Amy Grant took to the Community Concerts stage to perform a multitude of hits to a house packed with nearly 700 people.
Amy Grant, who has been on tour the past few weeks promoting her latest album, is a Nashville native known for bridging the gap between musical genres. As a crossover sensation, Grant has brought contemporary Christian music to the forefront of American culture while maintaining her success at the tops of contemporary pop music charts. This Saturday’s concert was the only one on the east coast and brought fans from many miles and various states here to the city of Scranton and to our very own college.
Grant performed classic hits like “Baby Baby” and “Takes a Little Time,” but also featured a handful of new works from her latest album, How Mercy Looks From Here. Members of Amy Grant’s fan club, “Friends of Amy,” arrived at 5:00 PM to sit in on sound check and select group was able to attend a Meet and Greet with the singer just prior to the performance, including President Volk. From people dancing in the aisles to those shouting, “Bless you Amy!” the concert was an incredible achievement for the first of four shows in the Community Concerts 2013-2014 season!
