Suellen Musewicz
Lackawanna College Dean of Student Affairs

Suellen Musewicz, as Dean of Student Affairs, oversees all student services and student life programming at the College, including Residence Life.

Mrs. Musewicz has spent her entire professional career at Lackawanna College. She began in the College’s ACT 101 Program in 1978, rising through the ranks to Director from 1990 to 1992. From 1992 to 1998, she served as Director of Counseling Services, and, in 1998, was promoted to her present position.

In addition to her administrative positions, Mrs. Musewicz served as a member of the adjunct faculty in the Human Services department from 1978 through 1998. Additionally, she developed and taught Stress Management and Assertiveness Training Programs through the Lifecare Program at Community Medical Center from 1993 to 1996. She also served as a Behavior Specialist with CMC’s Optifast Program from 1989 to 1991.

Mrs. Musewicz earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology (1972) from the Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree in Counseling (1981) from the University of Scranton. While at Penn State, she was inducted into the Psi Chi honor society. She is a graduate of Leadership Lackawanna’s 2001 class.

Along with her administrative responsibilities, Mrs. Musewicz has served as co-chair for the College’s Middle States Self-Studies in 1994 and 2004, as well as for the mid-cycle Periodic Review Report.

Mrs. Musewicz and her husband, Thomas, a member of the Humanities faculty at the College, reside in Scranton with their daughter Maggie.


Karen K. Legge
Lackawanna College Director of Student Activities

Karen Legge serves as Director of Student Activities and oversees the coordination and implementation of campus student activities such as student-centered special events, leadership opportunities, and programming. These include annual campus-wide events such as the Fall Semester Freshman Orientation Program, Homecoming and Spring Fling festivities, as well as a variety of spontaneous and ad hoc activities throughout the semester. Additionally, Ms. Legge coordinates community service efforts for organizations such as the American Red Cross, United Cerebral Palsy, the American Cancer Society, March of Dimes, and the Lackawanna County Head Start Program. Ms. Legge is also the liaison for all student organizations on campus, and serves as advisor for the Student Government Association, the Ski Club and a variety of other clubs.

Ms. Legge began her professional career with the College in October of 1985 as the administrative assistant in the Act 101 Office. She then served as Administrative Assistant to the Academic Dean for six years before being promoted to her present position in 1996.

Ms. Legge earned an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from the University of Scranton in 1994 and received her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies in 2004 from the University of Scranton, where she was the recipient of the Excellence in Liberal Studies Award.

Ms. Legge is also an adjunct faculty member at Lackawanna, serving as an instructor in both the College’s Humanities and Self-Development divisions. She has participated in the College’s student mentoring program for the past seven years and is a member of the National Association for Campus Activities, the American Association of University Women and the American Student Government Association.

Ms. Legge is a resident of East Mountain in Scranton and is the proud mother of her daughter Danielle, a dance instructor and choreographer.


Barbara Nowogorski
Director of Advising & Transfer Services/Portfolio Manager

Barbara Nowogorski serves as the College’s Director of Advising & Transfer Services. She is responsible for the registration of all Scranton freshman students and the administration of the student advising system for the entire student population (Scranton and branch campuses). Mrs. Nowogorski also works with students interested in transferring to four-year institutions and coordinates transfer college campus recruiting visits. She played a significant role in Lackawanna’s inclusion to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education’s Academic Passport Program and has been instrumental in the development of current articulation agreements with Keystone College, Marywood University, Misericordia University, and Albright College. Additionally, Mrs. Nowogorski serves as the College’s Portfolio Manager.

After graduating summa cum laude from Lackawanna College, Mrs. Nowogorski began her professional career with the College, working in Student Services, the Office of the Academic Dean, and Career Services before progressing through the ranks to her present position in 1998.

Mrs. Nowogorski serves as a life-skills instructor in both the College’s Self-Development division and the Continuing Education Department. She is currently a member of the College’s Steering Committee for the Middle States Self-Study, has participated in the College’s student mentoring program for the past five years, and is a member of NACADA (National Academic Advising Association).

She and her husband Joe reside in Scranton.


Stephen Duda
Lackawanna College Residence Hall Director

Mr. Duda Graduated from Valley West HS, Plymouth PA. in 1976.

From 1976 through 1979 he attended Villanova with a major in Liberal Arts.

From 1993 through 1995 Mr. Duda attended Wilkes University.  He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1995 with a BA in History and Teacher Certification in Social Studies grades 7-12.
