Ann Marie Stelma Ph.D
Lackawanna College VP of Continuing Education
Dr. Ann Marie Stelma is VP for Continuing Education at Lackawanna College. As VP, Dr. Stelma As Vice President for Continuing Education, she administering all facets of the Continuing Education Department, which includes the college's non-matriculating courses and a variety of special educational and training programs, as well as all Allied Health programs offered at the college. In addition, Dr. Stelma is responsible for the college’s GED and Adult Basic Education programs, and has direct oversight of the college’s satellite centers in Hazleton, Honesdale and Towanda, and the new site in Susquehanna which is expected to open in July of 2007. VP Stelma also oversees the College’s Employment training institute.
Miss Stelma has 25 years of experience in the educational field, working at every level from elementary through college. She started at Lackawanna College in September 1985 and through the years has held a variety of positions with the college. Among them have been Dean of Continuing Education, Academic Development Specialist, Director of Developmental Education and Director of Continuing Education. In addition to her other duties, she currently serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.
Prior to coming to Lackawanna College, Miss Stelma worked as an Instructional Specialist for Luzerne County Community College and as a Reading Specialist for the Tunkhannock Area School District and the director of the STEP program while completing her graduate work at Bloomsburg State College.
A resident of Pittston, Miss Stelma earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and her master's in Reading from Bloomsburg State College. She holds state certification as a Reading Specialist. Dr. Stelma recently received her doctorate in Human Development in the area of Higher Education Administration from Marywood University.
She is a member of many professional and community organizations, including the numerous committees at the Chamber of Commerce, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Continuing Education Council, the Business Quality Partnership, the Pennsylvania Association for Developmental Education, the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Pittston Parks and Recreation Commission.
Bridget Duggan, AS
Lackawanna College Special Programs Manager, Continuing Education
Ms. Duggan earned Associate Degrees in Business Science/Human Services from Lackawanna College in May 1991. Ms. Duggan began her employment at Lackawanna College in 1990. During this time she has held various positions throughout the College. From 1990-1993, Ms. Duggan served as administrative assistant to the Offices of Development and Alumni Relations and served as Alumni Coordinator between 1994-1997. In 1997, Ms. Duggan joined the Office of Continuing Education as Administrative Assistant to the Paramedic Training Institute. In June 2002, Ms. Duggan was appointed Special Programs Manager to Continuing Education. Currently, she serves as Program Manager for the Paramedic Training Institute and the Vascular Technology Program. In addition, she manages the Colleges After School and Summer Youth programs.
Joseph D. Paparelli, J.D.
Lackawanna College Instructor of Computer Applications - Continuing Education, Sports Information Director
Since 2001, Mr. Paparelli has serviced as an Instructor of Computer Applications; and in 2003 was named Lackawanna Colleges Sports Information Director.
He is a graduate of the Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial and Labor Relations; and Villanova University School of Law.
Certified as a lawyer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Mr. Paparelli has been practicing law as a sole practitioner in Lackawanna County since 1974 where he has both applied computer technology to his own law practice and advised others on implementation of those technologies and software applications to their office needs.
Mr. Paparelli is an active member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Lackawanna Bar Association, where he services on the Law Library Advisory Committee.
He is also active in Lackawanna Countys athletic community were he services as a sports official in both baseball and football. He also services on the Board of Directors for Northeast Baseball Inc., the organization that returned a minor league baseball team to Northeast.
Diane Parlanti
Lackawanna College Assistant to the Director of Continuing Education/Instructor
Mrs. Parlanti has been employed at Lackawanna College since April 2001 after completing the Computer Skills Certificate program. She is certified as a Microsoft Office User Specialist. She is currently pursuing an Associate Degree in Business Administration at Lackawanna College.
Some of her duties include part-time instruction for the Computer Skills Training Program as well as an administrative assistant to the Director of Continuing Education. She also manages the paperwork for the mentoring program. Mrs. Parlanti recently began working with the after school youth program assisting the Program Director.
Stephanie McDaniels, BSRT (R), RDMS, RVT
Program Director, Sonography
Stephanie is certified as a diagnostic medical sonographer and a radiologic technologist. The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography registers her in the specialties of vascular and abdominal ultrasound.
Stephanie brings to Lackawanna College a background of 11 years in the field of ultrasound. In addition to this position, she is employed by Lackawanna Mobile Diagnostic Services as Chief Sonographer of the Ultrasound Departments and as Technical Director of the Vascular Laboratory.
Stephanie is an active member of the following organizations:
- The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
- The Society of Vascular Ultrasound
- The Northeastern PA Ultrasound Society and the Northeastern PA Vascular Chapter.
She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology from College Misericordia.
Stephanie is currently pursuing her registry with the ARDMS in cardiac ultrasound.
As Director of Medical Sonograhpy at Lackawanna College, Stephanie serves as lead instructor and lab manager for both the vascular technology and general ultrasound programs. In addition, she oversee the administration and day to day operation of the vascular technology program, including those programs operating in the evening and on weekends at all teaching sites of Lackawanna College in cooperation with the President of Continuing Education.
Mauri Conforti, ASRT, RDMS
Assistant Program Director, Clinical Coordinator Sonography Program
Mauri is certified as a diagnostic medical sonographer and a radiologic technologist. She has extensive experience in hospital, out patient clinic, mobile and education settings. She is registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in multiple specialties.
Mauri brings to Lackawanna College a background of twenty years experience in the field of ultrasound and eight years experience in the radiologic technology field. Prior to this position, she was employed by Advanced Imaging Specialists an outpatient center in Dunmore, Pa., as lead technologist. She has also done several informational segments promoting the field and good health.
She is an active member in the Northeastern Pa Society of Ultrasound.
As Assistant Director and Clinical Coordinator at Lackawanna College, Mauri serves as an instructor and lab manager for the Sonography programs. She assists with the administration and daily operations of the program as well as the teaching/clinical sites in cooperation with the Stephanie Mc Daniels, Program Director and Dr. Stelma the Vice President of Continuing Education.
