    Coming Fall 2018!

    Lackawanna College student athletes will have an exciting new opportunity to compete in the growing esports phenomenon when the College’s first esports team begins in the Fall 2018 semester.

    College officials announced the new competitive opportunity on Tuesday, April 17, and students are invited to enroll now for the chance to compete against colleges and universities in North America.

    With the new program, Lackawanna joins the ranks of more than 60 progressive institutions across the United States and Canada to offer the first known esports program in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

    NACE Member

    Lackawanna recently announced that it has become a member of the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE). NACE is the only association of college and university sponsored esports programs that promotes the education and development of students through intercollegiate esports.

    Program Highlights

    • One of just 60+ known institutions to offer an esports program for student athletes
    • The first known esports program of its kind in Northeastern Pennsylvania
    • Competition begins in the Fall 2018 semester in games including Overwatch, League of Legends, and Rocket League
    • Scholarships will be available for student athletes in this progressive arena
    • The rapidly growing esport phenomenon is a multi-billion dollar industry with companies developing, testing, and publishing games
