Gail Scaramuzzo, Ph.D. Lackawanna College Vice-President for Administration
Dr. Scaramuzzo comes to the College with an eclectic portfolio of skill and experience. Prior to her tenure at Lackawanna she held a series of administrative positions in several venues to include banking, the law, medicine, insurance, human resources and social services. She has been with the College since 1996 and has served in a variety of roles to include Business Manager, Plant Operations Director and Chief Administrative Officer prior to her appointment as Vice President for Administration.
As Vice President for Administration, she supervises the human resources department, facilities, construction, contracts and insurance, and acts as liaison between contractors, engineers, architects, outside vendors and legal counsel. She also serves as one of the College Affirmative Action Officers.
Dr. Scaramuzzo earned an Associate in Business Science degree and an Associate in Liberal Arts degree from Lackawanna College. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Human Resources Management and her Masters Degree in Professional Studies from Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, New Jersey. She completed her doctoral studies at Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and obtained a Ph.D. in Professional Studies in Education with a concentration in Adult Educational Technologies.
Her other certifications and licenses include a certificate in Educational Management from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, International Building Codes Certification (formerly BOCA), a Contractor’s License for the City of Scranton, certificates in Project Performance Management and Project Management Practices, as well as a Professional Human Resources Management Masters Certificate from the University of Scranton.
Long active in her community, Dr. Scaramuzzo is a former board member of the South Abington Township Sewer Authority and served and as Treasurer and then Chair of the Clarks Summit, South Abington Township Joint Sewer Authority. She serves on the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army, the Metro Action Board for the Greater Scranton Area Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Dress for Success Advisory Board.
Dr. Scaramuzzo and her husband Art reside in Scranton, and are the parents of three grown daughters, Hilary Scaramuzzo Muldoon, Abby Jane Scaramuzzo and Tamika Ann Scaramuzzo.
