PHL 105 Introduction to Philosophy Course Objectives

Specifically, SS 121 will attempt to:

1. Introduce the student to philosophic vocabulary.
2. Give an account of the history of philosophy in its cultural context.
3. Explain the cultural milieu in which a given philosophy emerged.
4. Make the student realize that philosophers are men, not disembodied spirits.
5. Understand this “high level of conceptualization” by guiding the student through the course by the use of the original sources.
