- To increase understanding of the basic nutrients of our diet and understanding of the balance between the basic nutrients necessary for good health.
- To develop an understanding of the different types of dietary fat, their role in a healthy diet and their connection to cholesterol and triglycerides.
- To understand the myths and realities of weight control and the causes/effects of eating disorders.
- To clarify the role of vitamins and mineral in the diet and their connection to stress and health management.
- To develop the ability to interpret marketers claims regarding nutritional value of foods.
- To increase the understanding of the connection between diet and heart disease and cancer.
