SD 101 Drug and Alcohol Use Course Objectives

The objective of the course will be to survey the major drugs used in society today.   Concentration will be on the effects of the various street and prescription drugs on human behavior.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of:

  1. Drug dosage and interactions.
  2. The effects of drugs such as alcohol, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, tobacco, caffeine, psychomotor stimulants and antidepressants, opiates, cannabis, and hallucinogens on both human and non-human behavior.
  3. The harmful effects of the above-mentioned drugs.
  4. Various pharmaceutical and street names for drugs.
  5. Present popularity of the drugs concerned.
