OT 215 Medical Terminology / Medical Transcription II Course Objectives

An OT 215 student should be able:

  1. To transcribe a variety of medical reports and charts accurately, neatly, and according to proper format.   Average-length reports should be completed during a class period.
  2. To transcribe the physician’s dictation of patient information and data into final printed copy with accuracy.
  3. To be familiar with various medications, common medical abbreviations, and diagnostic procedures covered in the course.
  4. To utilize a medical dictionary and medical reference books in medical transcription.
  5. To transcribe reports with the quality of dictation varying from average to good and the difficulty level of the content from simple to average to complex.
  6. Transcribe reports from both native English-speaking and non-native English-speaking physicians.
