OT 210 Office Technology Course Objectives:  

Students in OT 210 should be able to:

  1. Identify the role and responsibilities of various office personnel positions, including the qualities and skills necessary for professional growth.
  2. Use effective communication techniques; develop and use proper telephone techniques.
  3. Efficiently handle incoming and outgoing mail under traditional methods; use Outlook to create, send and receive E-mail messages.
  4. Use Outlook’s calendar to schedule appointments and events.
  5. Create a calendar personal subfolder.
  6. Delete, edit, and print appointments.
  7. Set appointments with natural language phrases.
  8. Add appointments to a weekly calendar; add recurring appointments to a monthly calendar.
  9. Schedule and print an event list.
  10. Create a tasks personal subfolder and a contact list.
  11. Using a hands-on approach, complete assignments in Microsoft Office to produce a variety of documents in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook with limited teacher instruction.
  12. Prepare for the Microsoft Office User Specialist core certification tests.
  13. Recognize the importance of ethical behavior within the business environment.
  14. Develop job search and interviewing skills including the writing of a professional-looking resume and application letter.
