OT 210 Office Technology Course Objectives:
Students in OT 210 should be able to:
- Identify the role and responsibilities of various office personnel positions, including the qualities and skills necessary for professional growth.
- Use effective communication techniques; develop and use proper telephone techniques.
- Efficiently handle incoming and outgoing mail under traditional methods; use Outlook to create, send and receive E-mail messages.
- Use Outlook’s calendar to schedule appointments and events.
- Create a calendar personal subfolder.
- Delete, edit, and print appointments.
- Set appointments with natural language phrases.
- Add appointments to a weekly calendar; add recurring appointments to a monthly calendar.
- Schedule and print an event list.
- Create a tasks personal subfolder and a contact list.
- Using a hands-on approach, complete assignments in Microsoft Office to produce a variety of documents in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook with limited teacher instruction.
- Prepare for the Microsoft Office User Specialist core certification tests.
- Recognize the importance of ethical behavior within the business environment.
- Develop job search and interviewing skills including the writing of a professional-looking resume and application letter.
