OT 203 Machine Transcription Course Objectives:  

Students in OT 203 should be able to:

1. Demonstrate the correct procedures in operating the various mechanisms on the transcribing machine.
2. Demonstrate ear-finger-foot coordination in transcribing material from the transcription equipment.
3. Transcribe mailable copy on the first draft from the transcription equipment.
4. Demonstrate the ability to supply the appropriate words taken from the vocabulary portion of each section.
5. Demonstrate the ability to supply the proper punctuation in dictated copy.
6. Demonstrate the ability to transcribe at or above the minimum acceptable transcription speed.
7. Demonstrate the ability to match words taken from the vocabulary portion of each section with their proper definitions.
8. Demonstrate the ability to edit a letter properly using proofreader’s marks.
9. Effectively utilize the dictionary and reference books to assist in producing mailable transcripts.
