MG 210 Human Resources Management Course Objectives:

An MG 210 student should be able to:

  1. To bring the student up to date on issues facing management in the 21st Century
  2. Encourage students to work in groups to apply the information learned in each chapter to solve a specific HR problem.
  3. Ethical dilemmas in HR management will be presented. Students will be asked to identify the ethical issues and discuss what would be an appropriate response.
  4. The students will be given the opportunity to go to the web sites of various companies to see how companies are really approaching the issues discussed.
  5. The students will be directed to the current human resources legal environment and will be able to identify those laws that are of ultimate importance in hiring, retention and firing.
  6. Human resources around the globe will be explored and the students will gain a useful background about working in the global economy.
  7. Morale and motivation in the workforce and management’s role will be discussed.
  8. Technology’s impact on the everyday functions of a human resource manager will be discussed .
  9. Unionization will be discussed and its impact will be explored.
  10. Human resources in the 21st Century will be identified and trends or practices that seem to be growing will prepare the student for management in the 21st Century.
