LA 137 Contract and Commercial Law Course Objectives:
Within the contract and commercial law course, students will learn the following:
- How the Uniform Commercial Code is structured and applied.
- How contracts are formed and what essential elements they contain, including a study of the following:
- The offer and the elements of an offer;
- The acceptance and the elements of an acceptance;
- The meaning of the term "consideration" and the elements of that term;
- The meaning of other aspects of contract law, including genuine assent, issues of capacity, issues of illegality, proper legal form with respect to contracts, rights of third parties.
- The drafting of a contract.
- Remedies that are available when contracts are breached and how these may be invoked.
