Degrees

IS 202 Management Information Systems Course Objectives

  1. Each student will obtain an understanding of how information and data must be used in an organization's decision-making process at all levels of management.
  2. Each student will comprehend the concept and workings of a computer system and know the major technologies and functions of the components of such a computer system.
  3. All class members will gain an understanding of how information systems are used to support electronic commerce (Internet), business operations, managerial decision-making, and strategic advantage.
  4. All students will have a basic knowledge of computer terminology, hardware and software, see how these are put together to form data communications networks and understand why these are integral to a modern organization's MIS environment.
  5. All students will prepare write-ups of selected case studies that apply the concepts covered in the chapter readings and classes.
  6. All students will receive instruction in and submit projects using MS Excel for spreadsheet software as it relates to end-user computing.
