IS 110 Computer Applications II Course Objectives

An IS 110 student should be able: 

  1. To gain hands-on practice using Microsoft Office Word to learn advanced features, including tables, columns, styles, templates and wizards, graphics and mail merge.
  2. To gain hands-on practice using Microsoft Office Excel to learn advanced features, including functions and advanced formulas, graphics, creating and enhancing charts and worksheets, working with multiple worksheets, customizing print jobs, adding clip art to documents, and displaying data in a map.
  3. To gain hands-on practice using Microsoft Office Access to learn advanced features, including creating reports and charts, using database wizards and office links, and performing queries and filtering records.
  4. To prepare a PowerPoint presentation, edit and format a PowerPoint presentation, and add animations to presentations.
  5. To prepare students to learn the necessary skills needed for the Core-level Microsoft Office User Specialist certification test.
  6. To complete end-of-chapter assignments without instructor direction using Microsoft Office 2000; to reinforce acquired technical skills while providing practice in decision-making and problem solving.
  7.  To apply the knowledge gained about the programs in the Office suite to produce a variety of documents in an integrated project; students are required to use problem-solving, critical-thinking, and creative-thinking skills to design documents for each business situation.
