ECE 245 Methods and Materials in Early Childhood Education Course Objectives 

The ECE 245 student will be able to:

  1. Analyze and select appropriate commercial materials for infant through grade 3 classrooms.
  2. Demonstrate an ability to adapt the presentation of materials to varying ability levels.
  3. Produce teacher-made materials which represent all areas of the ECE curriculum.
  4. Organize related materials into learning centers which foster independent acquisition of knowledge for students of varying interests and abilities.
  5. Analyze children’s abilities and interests and begin to develop an appropriate list of themes that foster child-centered learning.
  6. Relate critical methodologies in ECE to various learning styles, motivational levels, interests and abilities, and integrate them with appropriate materials.
