A DEV 010 student should be able to:

1. Distinguish sentences (complete thoughts) from fragments.
2. Clearly state main idea (topic) sentence of a paragraph.
3. Develop supporting details for a well-developed paragraph.
4. Utilize correct Subject-Verb Agreement.
5. Utilize/recognize consistent verb tense.
6. Recognize and correct errors in punctuation (comma splices and run-ons).
7. Develop essays utilizing effective transitions.
8. Carefully edit for spelling and punctuation errors.
9. Utilize computers in Word Processing writing assignments.
10. Learn how to use and document research sources properly in a research essay.
