- To examine the elements of film style.
- To understand terms and technological aspects of film making.
- To create an understanding of the film industry as a business as well as an expression in art.
- To help students understand not only the basic concepts but also how their own reactions and opinions impact the overall film experience, making the course even more meaningful.
- To continue to help students articulate a greater understanding of the reciprocal nature of media and culture.
- To further students' skills in critical thinking by providing an assortment of theories and arguments and the opportunity to apply them to specific and concrete examples and observations.
