CTN 205 Video Production I Course Objectives

1. To help students gain an understanding of the processes that go into constructing and understanding a televised message.
2. To demonstrate to students the balance between creativity and technology while developing projects.
3. To develop students' comprehensive understanding of television equipment and its operation in order to use that equipment as tools for communication.
4. To help students articulate a greater understanding of the reciprocal nature of media and culture.
5. To further students' skills in critical thinking by providing an assortment of theories and arguments and the opportunity to apply them to specific and concrete examples and observations.
6. To encourage students to become involved in their academic and local communities.
7. To demonstrate effective research and information management skills.
8. To demonstrate perseverance and learn from mistakes as students self-direct life-long learning.
9. To utilize various forms of print and electronic references, evaluating each of these for logic, validity, and reliability.
10. To compose in an electronic environment and using the resources of word processing software to improve writing.
11. To compose work to be included in Student Credential Portfolios.
