CJS 212 The Pennsylvania Vehicle Code and Accident Investigation Objectives:

CJS 212 students should be able:

  1. To provide the student with an understanding of the vehicular laws of this Commonwealth as they appear in Title 75.
  2. To give the student a working knowledge of the Vehicle Code as applied to law enforcement and to examine the required elements of proof needed for successful prosecutions.
  3. To present current case laws relating to such issues as driving under the influence, vehicular homicide and moving violations.
  4. To explore the theories of accident investigations and to examine the “cause and effect” elements of motor vehicle accidents.
  5. To demonstrate and discuss measuring and recording methods and their appropriate uses with regard to proper documentation of an accident scene.
  6. To properly use and complete standard investigative forms, such as a traffic citation and the police academy report.
