CJS 205 Police Operations Objectives:

CJS 205 students should be able:

  1. To provide the student with a general overview of “policing” in the United States.
  2. To acquaint the student with the basic skills and procedures used by various law enforcement agencies to accomplish their day to day goals and objectives.
  3. To present to the student past and current methods relative to patrolling, interaction with the public and criminal investigations.
  4. To expose the student to police-related functions in areas such as forensics, hiring requirements, ethics, DNA testing, and terrorism.
  5. To explore new technologies used in the field of law enforcement as they relate to communication, data management and police-offender contact.
