CJS 125 Introduction to Search and Seizure and the Rules of Criminal Procedure Objectives:
CJS 125 students should be able:
- To provide the student with an understanding of basic individual rights under the United States and Pennsylvania constitutions.
- To present to the student the specific rights guaranteed by the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth amendments to the United States Constitution and the corresponding amendments to the Pennsylvania Constitution.
- To present current case laws relative to law of arrest, search and seizure and pre-arrest identification.
- To provide the student with a working knowledge of the “Exclusionary Rule” and related court cases.
- To compare Pennsylvania’s legal concepts with those of corresponding Federal standards concerning issues such as probable cause, privacy and “reasonableness”.
