CJS 105 Introduction to the Criminal Justice System Course Objectives:
CJS 105 students should be able:
- To provide the student with a general overview of the basic institutions of social control, which include criminal law, the police, the judicial system and various forms of corrections.
- To acquaint the student with the groundwork of the several law enforcement agencies on the local, state and federal levels.
- To present to the student past and current viewpoints on the role of rehabilitation in the criminal justice system.
- To prevent and discuss critical issues such as community policing, alternative sentencing, jury selection and reform.
- To provide the student with an overview of current technology used in various parts of the criminal justice system.
